Resident
AI chat that runs on your Mac.
One download sets it up. You need no account. Your chats stay on your Mac.
In testing. Coming to the Mac App Store.
A model sized to your Mac
On first launch, Resident checks your Mac's memory and downloads one model to fit it: 6 GB on a Mac with 16 GB of memory, 3.1 GB on a Mac with 8 GB. From then on, the model runs on your Mac's own chip.
Reads what you give it
Attach images, PDFs, Word and RTF documents, web pages, text and code. Resident reads scanned PDFs as images. Paste a link and it reads the page.
Online for two things
Resident connects to read a link you paste, and to search the web when a question needs fresh facts. You can turn web search off in Settings.
Folders you choose, read only
Share a folder and Resident can read the files in it when you ask. It cannot change or delete them. macOS keeps it out of every folder you did not share.
You need
A Mac with Apple silicon, macOS 15 or later, and 8 GB of memory or more.
